CLARKSBURG — Wednesday’s active shooter situation at UCLA, which ended in what’s being reported as a murder-suicide, resulted in a lockdown of the entire campus.

Bob Roberts, chief of police at West Virginia University, said that although not much can be done to prevent such an event, there are steps taken by WVU.

“About the only pre-step before they happen is to have a good threat assessment program like we’ve had for a few years here, where you see people who may be acting out and people can get that information to the team and have that on their scope,” Roberts said. “With things like what happened at UCLA, where someone is bent on revenge towards a person, it’s about being prepared with active shooter training.”
